10 Best Rooftop Bars in Mexico City for Views + Cocktails
The best rooftop bars in Mexico City give you a front-row seat to North America’s largest city. Some put you 30+ floors up with sweeping skyline views. Others perch you above the Zócalo with the giant Mexican flag flying below.
Across a dozen trips, I’ve hunted down the rooftops in Mexico City that actually deliver. Tough work, I know. But I’m happy to do it 🙂
I’m mostly looking for three things: an inviting atmosphere, drinks worth ordering twice, and incredible views.
Some on this list double as rooftop restaurants with creative menus. Others are all about the cocktails and the scene. And a few keep it casual with solid drinks, sunset over the skyline, and prices that won’t make you wince.
Here are the Mexico City rooftops worth visiting.

1. Cityzen Rooftop at Sofitel Hotel
📍 Location: Cuauhtémoc (map)
🌇 Rooftop View: 38th Floor
Of all the rooftops in Mexico City, Cityzen is my favorite for its breathtaking view of El Ángel de la Independencia.

It’s one of the most iconic landmarks in Mexico City, located on one of the most iconic streets, Paseo de la Reforma. The views looking down the tree-lined double avenue are lovely. And at sunset, the angel glows in the golden hour light.
This rooftop is stunning at any time of day but if you want a balcony table with the best views overlooking the city at sunset, make sure to arrive before or plan to wait. If there’s a wait, the Sofitel’s lobby bar is a comfortable spot to grab a drink, but the views don’t compare.

I celebrated my birthday here and the view from the Sofitel rooftop takes the cake. Whether you’re celebrating something special or just soaking in the city from above, in my opinion Cityzen has one of the most impressive views of all the rooftop bars in Mexico City.
2. Supra Rooftop for 360° Views
📍 Location: Roma Norte (map)
🌇 Rooftop View: 14th floor

Perched on the 14th floor, Supra Rooftop features sweeping 360° views of Mexico City, making it one of the most scenic spots to grab a drink. During the afternoon, the seating area is set up with cocktail tables. And in the evening, the lounge section opens, creating a more relaxed atmosphere among towering órgano cacti.

As one of the most popular rooftop bars in Mexico City, reservations are a good idea during busy times. If you don’t mind the afternoon sun, the opposite side offers a clear sightline toward downtown and Torre Latinoamericana.
I visited in the late afternoon, but it was clear that by nightfall, the energy shifts as the lounge transforms into more of a club scene. Whether you’re here for sunset drinks or a night out, Supra Rooftop delivers an elevated experience—literally and figuratively.
3. Pandora Rooftop: Art Deco Glamour
📍 Location: Juarez (map)
🌇 Rooftop View: 6th Floor

Pandora Rooftop breaks the biggest rule of a rooftop bar, yet somehow makes it work.
Instead of an open-air terrace, you’re under a stunning curved glass ceiling that follows the building’s art deco architecture, a style found in some of the best neighborhoods in Mexico City.

The design alone is worth the visit. The glass creates this greenhouse-like space where you can see the sky without worrying about being cold when the temperature drops. Vintage chic decor accents the space: blush pink banquettes, lush greenery, and that dramatic ceiling that makes you forget you’re technically indoors.

The cocktails showcase Mexican flavors in creative, unexpected ways. We only came for drinks, but the food looks so incredible I told my friend next time I’m arriving hungry.
It turns out breaking the rules was the right call.
4. La Terraza Gran Hotel: Zócalo Views
📍 Location: Centro (map)
🌇 Rooftop View: 5th Floor
The Gran Hotel was already my go-to spot to bring visitors to admire the stunning Tiffany stained glass ceiling in the lobby. But beyond its impressive interior, it also has one of the best rooftops in the Zócalo of Mexico City.

From the terrace, you get an unbeatable view of both the Metropolitan Cathedral and the National Palace, with the massive Mexican flag waving in the center.
When my friend and I visited in the afternoon, they had no issue letting us sit at one of the prime tables along the balcony for just cocktails. The margarita was as large as my head but the flavor and strength were great.
For a relaxed afternoon overlooking the heart of Mexico City’s historic center, Terraza Gran Hotel is a great spot to sip a drink and take in the view of the Zócalo. This is also a great spot to have brunch in Mexico City (buffet style with mimosas).
5. Terraza Catedral: Casual Sunset Spot
📍 Location: Centro (map)
🌇 Rooftop View: 5th Floor
Terraza Catedral is the most casual rooftop on this list. It’s also one of my favorite rooftops for sunset.
It’s located above one of the most popular hostels in Mexico City, which might make you hesitate. Don’t. The moment you step onto the rooftop, you’ll completely forget how you got there.

The space opens up to skyline views, and if you time it right for sunset, you’ll catch the sun dipping just beyond Torre Latinoamericana, another top spot for Mexico City views.
The vibe here is refreshingly low-key. The drinks are well-balanced without trying too hard, and the bar food we ordered was solid. If you’re after sunset views in the city without the upscale price tag, this is your spot.
Note – There’s a DJ at Terraza Catedral on Friday and Saturday nights, which might mean a cover fee and/or a loud atmosphere.
6. Terraza Cha Cha Chá
📍 Location: Cuauhtémoc (map)
🌇 Rooftop View: 6th floor

If you’re looking for an option that blends great views with a full dining experience, Terraza Cha Cha Chá is one of the best rooftop restaurants in Mexico City.
Overlooking Plaza de la República, it offers a direct line of sight to the Monumento a la Revolución with the skyline, mountains, and sunset in the background.

The menu is solid, offering a mix of Mexican flavors and seafood dishes. Highlights include the bone marrow esquites, aguachile, and seafood tostadas.
When I visited a few days after spending Christmas in Mexico City, the rooftop was packed with locals socializing and soaking in the views. Whether you’re here for a leisurely meal or sunset cocktails, this spot delivers on both atmosphere and scenery.
7. Balcón del Zócalo Rooftop Restaurant
📍 Location: Centro (map)
🌇 Rooftop View: 6th Floor
This rooftop restaurant in the Zócalo blends elevated Mexican cuisine with landmark views. The terrace restaurant overlooks the side of the Metropolitan Cathedral and opens to a panorama of the National Palace.

The menu changes seasonally, featuring creative takes on Mexican flavors, like cochinita pibil gyozas or octopus carpaccio tlayudas. And the craft cocktails are as thoughtfully prepared as the food.
Whether you’re here for a special occasion or just to take in the view, Balcón del Zócalo restaurant delivers on both flavor and views.
Tip – the entrance to the hotel is on the street perpendicular to the Zócalo. Then take the elevator up to the rooftop restaurant.
8. Toledo Rooftop – Creativity and Curated Music
📍 Location: Juarez (map)
🌇 Rooftop View: 6th floor

Toledo Rooftop blends laid-back vibes with a stylish setting, offering a relaxed escape above the city. The open-air terrace is designed with cozy lounge seating and lush greenery.
What sets Toledo Rooftop apart is their willingness to experiment and evolve. They regularly bring in guest DJs like Nicolas Cruz, Feathered Sun, Bonobo, and more. And they collaborate with guest chefs from across Mexico to keep the food and cocktail menus dynamic.
Whether you’re here for a sunset drink or just looking for a chill rooftop in Mexico City, Toledo Rooftop delivers a setting that feels effortlessly cool.
9. El Mayor – Rooftop Overlooking Templo Mayor
📍 Location: Centro (map)
🌇 Rooftop View: 3rd Floor
For a different view of the Zócalo, El Mayor offers rooftop views from behind the Metropolitan Cathedral. The rooftop restaurant looks directly over Templo Mayor, the heart of Tenochtitlán before the Spanish arrived.
They don’t take reservations, but if there’s a wait, you can grab a drink or coffee at the adjacent café area, which also has a great view. Whether you’re here for a full meal or just to soak in the scenery, this spot blends history with its rooftop bar.
10. Balmori Roofbar
📍 Location: Roma Norte (map)
🌇 Rooftop View: 3rd Floor
Balmori Roofbar is unapologetically stylish in a way that could easily tip into too much. But it pulls it off.

Pink couches snake through the center, a disco ball hangs overhead, and the retractable roof opens just enough to let in a breeze while keeping the vibe intact.
Instead of sweeping city views, you’re surrounded by lush tropical plants that line the exterior wall. It feels more like a hidden garden than a rooftop, but the ambiance is undeniably cool.

The cocktail menu is inspired. Naturally, I gravitated toward the tequila and mezcal options and landed on the Smoked Passion, a milk punch-style drink with maracuyá and falernum. Smooth, smoky, and worth the splurge.
Balmori takes its name from a legendary trickster of 1920s Mexico City, and while you probably won’t get away with any grand illusions here, you can at least pretend for an evening, preferably with a strong cocktail in hand.
